The Word, the Spirit, and the Breath

The same pattern from Eden to Pentecost

From Genesis 2 forward, life follows a pattern: the body is formed first; then the breath is given. The Hebrew ruach and neshamah, the Greek pneuma and pnoe — these are not separate ideas but one observation, traced through every fresh moment of life in Scripture. The Word (logos) provides the structure; the Spirit (pneuma) gives the life. Bara — to create — is the verb behind both.
